26th Annual Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Day Race

To benefit cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients.

The Weld Legacy Foundation along with the CardioVascular Institute of North Colorado will host the 26th Annual Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Race Thursday, November 23, 2023, presented by Chevron. The race is open to participants of all ages and abilities and includes a 5K (3.1 miles) Turkey Trot and a 2K (1.2 miles) Gobbler Trek Fun Run/ Walk on a scenic, USATF-certified course. The CardioVascular Institute has a Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation program to help patients with heart and pulmonary conditions live healthier lives. A team of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation specialists tailor individual exercise, diet, and treatment programs to meet each patient’s needs. Studies have demonstrated that patients who participate in cardiac rehabilitation programs have a significant reduction in their mortality rates, earlier return to work, significantly improved quality of life, and learn valuable skills that can prevent complications and hospitalizations. The Cardiac Rehabilitation program has been recognized by the prestigious American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation as a certified program. The NCMC Foundation utilizes proceeds from the Turkey Trot event as individual grants which provide financial assistance to patients of the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs who would otherwise not be able to engage in the rehabilitation program. Participating in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation through the CardioVascular Institute of North Colorado helps individuals improve strength and endurance so they may return to their usual activities and life demands as much as possible with renewed confidence.
